Františkánsky kláštor a kostol Malacky

Táto unikátna pamiatka bola pôvodne renesačným kaštielikom. Pavol IV. Pálfi však prestavil kaštielik na františkánsky kláštor a povolal tam rád františkánov. Tiež k nemu pristavil kostol. Tieto práce sa začali v roku 1647 a už o päť rokov mali františkáni svoj vlastný kláštor. Dokončený bol v roku 1653 a vysvätil ho čanádsky biskup Tomáš Pálfi až v decembri 1660. Kostol je s kláštorom spojený chodbami a chórom. Chrámová loď je v barokovom štýle. Po jej bokoch sú kaplnky a vpredu je zakončená svätyňou, kde je umiestnený hlavný oltár. Ako náhle niekto vstúpi do kostola, okamžite si všimne hlavný oltár. Ten pochádza z prvej polovice 18. storočia a celý je z dreva a bohato pozlátený. Kláštor mal vlastnú školu. Išlo o gymnázium, ktoré tu pôsobilo v prvej polovici 20. storočia. Toto gymnázium patrilo medzi najvýznamnejšie školy v Československu. Takisto ako chrám, aj kláštor je zasvätený Nepoškvrnenému Počatiu Panny Márie. Svedčí o tom aj ústredný motív zadnej dekoratívnej časti – socha Panny Márie v nadživotnej veľkosti.

V chráme sa nachádza hlavný oltár a tiež tri bočné oltáre. V roku 1723 dva z nich darovala manželka Leopolda Pálfiho grófka Antonia Mária de Souchés. Počas prvej svetovej vojny prišiel kostol o zvony i cínové píšťaly do organu. V juhozápadnej časti kostola je umiestnená kaplnka Svätých schodov, symbolizujúca schody, po ktorých kráčal Kristus v Jeruzaleme k Pilátovi pontskému.
